How do I password protect a PDF?

Upload your PDF, enter an open password (required to open the PDF) and an optional permissions password (to restrict printing or copying), then click Protect and download.

What encryption is used?

PDFNexus uses AES-256 encryption — the strongest encryption standard available for PDF files.

Can I restrict printing or copying without an open password?

Yes. Set only a permissions password to allow opening the PDF freely while restricting print, copy, and edit operations.
